This is the prototype version - by using this version you understand that it (and any submitted content) may be canceled at any time without notice to you or liability to SafeRecipes. You understand that this version is not finalized, that the terms of use are a draft that may include features that are not fully functional, and that this version is not confirmed as secure. SafeRecipes Privacy

We value and respect your privacy.

This policy explains how we handle the information we collect when you visit and use our sites, services, applications, products, and content ("Services").

If you do not agree with this privacy policy, please do not use SafeRecipes.

Children's Privacy

If you are under the age of thirteen (13), then you are not permitted to create an account or otherwise submit personal information to SafeRecipes.

How We keep your information secure

We will use reasonable measures to keep your information secure in this pronged approach:

1. We require as little personal information as possible and all privacy settings are unshared by default.

2. We use encryption to protect data transmitted to and from our site. However, the hard truth is that no website can guarantee security because no data transmission over the internet is 100% secure. You use our Services at your own risk, and are responsible for taking reasonable measures to secure your account (like using a strong password).

3. We store sensitive data in password-protected documents on password-protected servers in secured locations.

4. We anonymize sensitive data as much as possible so that even on our system we couldn't tell you who it belongs to.

5. If you are permitted to submit personal information to SafeRecipes, we urge you to avoid sharing identifying or sensitive information, especially about children. We are not responsible for any personal information you choose to submit to SafeRecipes, e.g., in open text fields or to other users, beyond the minimum email address necessary to create an account.

Information We Do Not Keep

Payment Information

We use a third party to perform payments and do not keep payment information, such as credit card numbers. The company we employ specializes in keeping your payment information secure.

Email messages

Only registered users (foodies) whom you follow or who follow you (fans) may contact you via SafeRecipes. In this case, SafeRecipes forwards their messages to you without revealing your email address. If you contact another user through SafeRecipes, We reveal your userpage (not your email) with the outgoing message. We log the activity but We do not store message content.

Information We Keep

You directly provide Us with most of the data We keep. Certain administrators of our Services use tools that grant them limited access to nonpublic information in order to protect our Services and enforce policies.

Email address

We require an email address to create an account.

Your email address will never appear publicly on SafeRecipes. When you opt to sign-in without a password, you will receive an email link instead. Otherwise, we will use your email address as seldom as possible to send important administrative messages. You can always opt out of non-administrative emails such as newsletters.

We will never email you to ask for your password or other account information. If you receive such an email, please forward it to report_fishing@saferecipes.com.

Account Profile & Password

A username is required to create an account.

We do not require any other account profile information, such as password, real name, birth date, or other health information. If you do not provide any additional information, default account preferences will apply. If you prefer the convenience of signing-in without checking email, you have the option of providing a password. If you prefer the convenience of using shortcuts for searches, you have the option of saving searches, profiles, or other available search preferences.

Content

Content contributions, including your shortcuts, reviews, recipe books, and other submissions, are unshared by default.

When you share content or when you allow others to edit, adapt, or remix content, you vouch that you have permission to do so (please review our IP Guide.)

Any content you share on SafeRecipes (including your username), or any shared content you edit, adapt, or remix, may be publicly and permanently available. For example, if a user has adapted your shared content, or filed your shared content in a recipe book, hiding or deleting your shared content would remove it from general search but would not remove it from the adaptation or recipe book. You may email report_content@SafeRecipes.com to report a problem with content that you are not able to edit or remove. Sharing a shortcut may reveal the saved search or profile implemented in the Search Results.

Other Data

You may search, read, and use certain tools of our Services without creating an account. However, We may collect the following information for all visitors:
• Internet Protocol (IP) address
• Device information
• Your searches
• The pages you access
• Emails you send us
• Other information, like Survey participations

We may use this information to improve our Services; to fight abuse; to personalize our Services; or to generate aggregate, non-identifying information about how people use our Services.

Server and Event Logs

SafeRecipes uses third-party vendors and hosting partners for hardware, software, networking, storage, and related technology we need to run our Services.

SafeRecipes cannot control nor is responsible for the privacy practices or content of linked third party websites.

Cookies

Cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard Internet log information and visitor behavior information. We use cookies and similar technologies to recognize you when you return to our Services. We use them in various ways, for example to sign you in, remember your preferences (such as default language), evaluate email effectiveness, and personalize information. Some parts of our Web Sites may be difficult or impossible to use if cookies are disabled.

We respect Do Not Track (“DNT”) settings in browsers. If you’re signed out of our Services and have DNT enabled, we will not set cookies. By signing in you are opting to allow SafeRecipes to ignore the DNT setting and to use cookies. Some third-party services that we use, such as Google Analytics, may place their own cookies in your browser. This Privacy Policy covers use of cookies by SafeRecipes only and not the use of cookies by third parties.

Password Security

You are responsible for safeguarding your own password and should never disclose it to any third party.

Sharing Identifying Personal Information

We may share identifying personal information with third parties in limited circumstances, including: (1) with your consent; (2) to comply with the law; (3) to protect you or others. We will object to requests for information about users of our site that we believe to be improper.

If we’re going to share identifying data in response to legal process, we’ll give you advance notice so you can challenge it (for example by seeking court intervention), unless we’re prohibited from doing so by law or court order. If we merge with another company such that your information will become subject to a different privacy policy, we’ll notify you before the transfer. You can opt out of the new policy by deleting your account during the notice period.

Accessing Your Data

To view your account information and content, sign-in to access Your Account.

Removing Your Data

If you delete your account, your account and content may be unrecoverable. If you would like copies of your content, please save pdfs before deleting your account. Deleting your account may not remove all of your contributions. Any information that has been filed or otherwise used by other users will remain on the site. This may include your username.

To protect information from accidental or malicious destruction, we may not immediately delete all information. We will retain data for the shortest possible time that is consistent with maintaining our Services and our obligations under the law.

Termination

If we terminate your account, your shared contributions will remain publicly available (subject to applicable policies).

Retaining Your Data

If your account has been inactive for 2 years, SafeRecipes may send you a series of three emails asking whether you would like to keep your account active. If you do not respond to any of our message alerts, we reserve the right to terminate your account.

Changes to this Policy

SafeRecipes may periodically update this Policy. We’ll notify you about significant changes to it.
